The Sonos Beam (Gen 2) is a compact Dolby Atmos soundbar that does the work of a far larger system. Five class-D amplifiers drive one tweeter, four mid-woofers and three passive radiators, with psychoacoustic HRTF processing creating height and width from a cabinet small enough to sit under almost any television. It is the natural choice for a living room where a full surround installation would be excessive.
Connectivity — stated plainly
The Sonos Beam (Gen 2) does not have Bluetooth. It connects over Wi-Fi, Ethernet, HDMI eARC and Apple AirPlay 2.
Wi-Fi carries uncompressed audio where Bluetooth compresses it, which is why Sonos builds its home theatre range this way. If you need Bluetooth for a portable speaker, the Era 100, Era 300 and Move 2 all have it and group with the Beam in the same system.
Connecting it to your television
One HDMI cable into your TV's HDMI eARC or ARC port and the Beam is connected — TV audio, volume via your existing TV remote, and Dolby Atmos where your TV and source support it. An optical adapter is included for older televisions without an ARC port.

Build it up over time
Add a Sonos Sub Gen 4 or Sub Mini for low-frequency weight, and a pair of Era 100 or Sonos Five speakers as true rear surrounds. The Beam is a complete soundbar on day one and the front of a full 5.1.2 system whenever you choose to extend it.
